FCC Communities Foundation award a grant of £29,026.48 for restoration of Colsterworth War Memorial.

Funding approved for the restoration of the War Memorial in Colsterworth.

All residents in the Parishes of Colsterworth and District are set to see the War Memorial on the High Street, Colsterworth restored thanks to a £29,026.48 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The money will be used to restore the grade II listed Colsterworth War memorial, as a memorial commemorating all the fallen from this area at the two World Wars.

Ex Councillor Terry Neale of Colsterworth and District Parish Council believes the War Memorial is an important part of the history of Colsterworth and the project to restore it thanks to the Grant from FCC Communities Foundation it will be preserved for future generations. Colsterworth Festival of Remembrance (CFoR) has worked closely with the Parish Council to drive this project forward by fundraising a contribution amount of £3,000 to the Parish Council towards the costs of taking the project forward.

He says: “This project will preserve the War Memorial for future generations of Colsterworth.  It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our War Memorial being restored over the next few months.”

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Penny Horne, FCC Communities Foundation grant manager, says: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Colsterworth War Memorial Restoration Project and pleased our funding will help restore this beloved memorial for the people of Colsterworth. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that improve local communities and we’re looking forward to this one making a difference very soon.”

Ex Councillor Terry Neale hopes the War Memorial will be restored by 6thJune 2024 which will be the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy.
